Bridge Design

Over the past few months, the Sea Bright Bridge team has been working to create the overall design of the bridge, along with the design of the deck, supporting members, and foundations. Figure 1 below shows the design of the bridge pending final review. The design consists of nine spans; eight 50-foot spans and a center span of 75 feet as well. Each span of the bridge maintains a 5% slope, and the average height of each of the intermediate towers is 15 feet. Using this design, the bridge surpasses the minimum required vertical clearance of 65 feet, as well as appeals to the aesthetics of the surrounding communities. In the coming weeks, the team will finalize the design as well as supporting members, and finalize the design of the intersections and surrounding roads to accommodate and promote the increased pedestrian travel.

The image displays a cad drawing of the proposed pedestrian bridge design. The left half of the picture displays the Sea Bright side of the bridge with a tower rising 23 feet in the air. Immediately after the tower is a 100 foot section increasing at a 5% grade to another 15 foot vertical tower. This pattern continues to the middle span of 75 feet and then decreases on the right towards the Rumson side of the bridge. The last tower that will connect onto the Rumson side of the bridge is only at a height of 10 feet due to the elevation of the Rumson land compared to the Sea Bright land
